Time for the Question....

Why am I doing this to myself???

Every spring I ask myself this question on the same evening of the year. Tonight is the night.

Tonight is my first soccer game of the season. Yes, I am old. I play in the "senior ladies" division. Nice title. That includes everyone 18 and up (yes, that is half my age!). I am older than 18 and out of shape. But I love it. Of all the sports I've played over the years, soccer was my definite, all time favourite. Still is. I love the mental part of it, even if the body doesn't co-operate all the time. So I play. Again. I hope I don't break anything valuable. Hoping I won't be too stiff and sore to get out of bed tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Sometime soon I hope to share about our wonderful long weekend to B.C. But for now, I'm off and running...

Maybe it's that stress release and sweat release... cleansing both the mind and the body. : )

Good to hear you are in the game. I miss playing soccer... stretch before you hit the pillow tonight and first thing tomorrow morning.

I enjoy reading your thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

I would love to watch you play!!! We had a parents vs the kids soccer game once... it was almost 15 yrs ago... I sucked wind big time!!! And I thought I was in pretty good shape at the time (at least I was 30 lbs lighter!).

YOU GO GIRL!

Good for you !!! The longer you keep "doing" the better.... it just isn't the same sitting there and saying... " I used to do that..." Keep playing as long as you enjoy it!!! (and try not to break anything)

Have FUN!!!!! I started playing when I was 25 and just stopped a few years ago when the second kid came along. I now have some injuries that make it close to impossible to play...and I miss it so much!

I miss the smell of the grass, the sound of the soccer ball thumping off a cleat, the sprinting as fast and hard as I could to chase down someone with the ball, the sight of a well kicked ball just soaring magnificently through the air...

When I was on that field nothing bothered me. It was such a liberating thing...all my focus was on the game and I felt so joyful!

SIGH...

I really want to play again! Have fun!!!!!!!!!

I will live vicariously through you!
